How Can Intolerable Pain In Feet After Experiencing A Fall Be Treated?

A couple of weeks ago I slipped outside on the deck while going in the house. I had a little snow on my shoe and it caused right leg to slip behind me and left leg to slide forward. I had some discomfort that night but not bad, now for the past couple of weeks there is pain in my left knee on the inside and there is some swelling starting this last week. It doesn't hurt as much to walk on it but when I have to bend my knee the pain becomes intolerable.

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

The symptoms suggest that you have apparently damaged your tendons, located around the knee; tear of the joint capsule; or, even possible fracture of the patellar bone.

Healing of the damaged tissue would require either a splint or a POP cast to give it adequate time to heal.

Consult an orthopedic surgeon, who will examine your knee, carry out X-rays/MRI scan and- based on the nature of damage- apprise you of the best options available.

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.

Take care
