Hello, I got a piercing 4 days ago on the left side of my ear on my tragus and it immediately got infected and was pretty severe. I was in excruciating pain and couldn t sleep at night and the swelling was awful. I decided to go to an urgent care yesterday and have a doctor take it out. I had to be numbed three times and as soon as they touched the earring blood and infection poured out. Now I m worried that I may have tetanus. My whole left side of my face swelled and was painful to the touch. I was given an antibiotic and ointment for the wound and infection. But I noticed my jaw has been locking up when I open it too much and is very stiff on the left side i cannot open it all the way or chew food, but this only happened after my piercing was removed. Do you think it s just sore or should I be worried Bout tetanus? If so what should I do I have not been vaccinated. Do you think the dr and urgent care would of detected tetanus if I were to have it ? Thank you for your time.
