How Can Fever With Persistent Cough Be Treated?

my 22 year old has been sick with mild fever aches and a persistant and constant but non productive cough- very harsh. we have tried everything including benzonatate for the exhausting cough. the urgent care doc scoffed at the idea of a narcotic cough suppressant but was perfectly alright with giving her an antibiotic for what is prob a viral infection . used cool mist robotussin benedryl what next 2 weeks of coughing
