How Can Excessive Burping Be Treated?

I want to know how can I stop burping. I do not burp while I am laying down or sleeping but my husband always complains about my burping. It has been about 3 years now that I have this constant burping. I burp probably 20 to 30 times a day. Usually is after I eat or drink or at any time of the day. What do you recommend?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You may want to consider the use of reflux medications even if you do not have the other typical symptoms of reflux. They should help the burping. Medications such as Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid or Protonix or other medications in this family can be tried. You can choose one of these. These medications can take 5 to 7 days to have an effect.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
