How Can Diarrhea And Fever In A Child Be Treated?

my 17 months old son had diarrhea and fever for over one week, the ped placed him on antibiotics for 5 days, the diarrhea is over,the test result showed no malaria;but he was treated malaria anyway,he has completed the doses but still has night fever of temperature over 38,pls what is the cause.tnx

Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
When a 17 month old child has been treated with antibiotics for diarrhea and fever, it may take more time sometimes for complete resolution and fever might be felt sometimes.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Continue the medicines as advised by the Pediatrician.
If still no complete resolution as k for the following tests:
Tests of stool.
Tests of blood for CBC, culture and sensitivity to see for typhoid, liver and kidney functions.
Get another course of an antibiotic if sound on culture and sensitivity reports.
Get hydration and electrolyte balance corrected.
