Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had colitis for @ 6 months, although it is improving I continue to have bouts with it on a regular basis. Also I have been a fairly active woman who exercised regularly (water aerobics) which I have d/c for obvious reasons. Recently it has been necessary to take a nap (1-2 Hours) in the day time. Also I am often weak in the knees and when I bend over to pick something up from the floor I often feel like I am going to fall over. Although I am overweight (5'2", 160 lbs) this has not been a serious problem for me. Help me please, I don't want to live like this.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Colitis treated with antibiotics and immunosuppressants or immunomodulators or steroids etc. After remission occur you have to maintain low dose to control the disease. Also check regularly with colonoscopy and biopsy. Check for other complications like infection or cirrhosis or joint involvement, etc. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
