How Can Blood Sugar Levels, Uncontrollable Thirst With Frequent Urination Be Treated?
My blood sugar reading was 555 today. I have Diabetes II and have been under control...last A1C was 6.9. I take Januvia ; previously metformin. At the beginning of the week, I woke up with severe uncontrollable thirst like I had never had before in my life! Nothing would quench my thirst! I also have been urinating much more frequently. The previous day to the thirst episode, I was urinating every 5 min. (odorless, colorless). Please help!! The highest my blood sugar ever was 156, that I m aware of.....Not sure if I should go to ER or wait to reach my Dr. tomorrow. Thanks for all your help!

thank you for your query , the increase in your blood glucose levels has caused the exessive thirst and urination. if metformin was controlling your sugar levels nicely, they must not have changed it to januvia. januvia the drug you are using now act by suppressing the release of glucagon. there by redusing your blood sugar levels. i am wondering why they have changed to januvia if your last A1c was 6.9. this result of 6.9 is ok. with the blood result now you need to increase your diabetic medication a combination of 2 drugs may be needed to you. it must be accompanied by regular exercise and regular diet. if you are over dehydrated you have to meet the ER or else you have a good exercise and consult your doctor tomorrow.hope for a speedy recovery
