How Can Autism Be Treated?

My great grandson & his mom are visiting me in two weeks. He has had special teachers coming to his home who just diagnosed him with high functioning autism. I just read the description online. I am wondering how I should interact with him. Patience is probably an asset ! He does love horses and we have some. His enjoys watching horse videos my daughter sends his mom on her iphone.. He is 2 1/2 years old. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there. I am glad to hear that you are doing research to help you interact with your grandson. You are absolutely right, patience is the key to deal with an autistic child. I would suggest you to first observe him for a few days. What does he enjoy doing, what makes him irritable. Its always advisable to talk to him in a way as you would talk to a normal person. The key to deal with an autistic child is love, patience and affection.
