How Can Allergic Swelling In The Eyes Be Treated?

hello, my boyfriend thinks he doesn t need to see a doctor about this.. he s probably allergic to bug bites because he reacts pretty badly to them. at night he got a bite under his eye and it got swollen all around the eye area. should he go see a doctor so he can be given some stronger drugs than just the ones he can get over the counter? thanks so much for your answer!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your query it seems that due to bite there has been allergic reaction with the toxic chemical leading to inflammation and swelling around the eye..
There is also a possibility that there has been infection the area leading to swelling and pain..
I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can advise you oral anti-allergics like Benadryl or Levocetrizine along with anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
A steroid injection can be given for reducing swelling..
Do cool compresses over the swelling..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..

Hi welcome to the health care magic

Here history of insect bite present so it seems to be allergic reaction

But still it is better to get examined by ophthalmologist and get your prescription

For severe swelling he might prescribed short term steroid course like betamethasone 0.5 mg for five days

Topical antihistaminic or steroid Also might be prescribed

Avoid frequent rubbing of eye and wear protective glasses while driving

Take care

Hope your concern solved
