How Can Abdominal Bloating Be Managed After Appendix Removal?
Hi I had my appendix removed 2 years ago and since I have bouts of bloating which makes me very uncomfortable and unable to take deep breaths. Over the last couple of months im.getting worse now with very soft stools and major stomach cramps for a couple of days then hard stools for a few more days. Im also always very gassy. My stomach makes lots of rumbling noises regularly and I can feel as if something is moving along inside me most of time. I have recently been diagnosed with silent reflux for which I take omeprozol. I also have injections of CIMZIA every 4 weeks for psoriatic arthritis. I am 46 years old and wondering if I should seek advice from my GP. I have had 2 scans since having my appendix out because of severe pains mimicking appendicitis and on one the GP said my diaphragm looked displaced but this may be from the surgery. Nothing else showing. This was 4 months after surgery. I have not had the severe pains since 6 months after surgery. Is this something Im likely going to have to live with or could it be something more serious? Thanks in advance Christine
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your history, as you underwent appendicectomy 2 yrs back, so i don't think bloating may be because of surgery. Bloating may be due to abdominal indigestion. Take light food. You can take Tab. Diapepsin P after consultation. Kindly do ultrasound abdomen after consulatation. Take care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shyam B. Kale
