I just had an annual physical. Received a call yesterday stating that a marker came back from the cardiac blood panel that was out of the norm. Nurse said something about possible inflammation from arthritis, bowel cld be the reason. I have a follow up appt with the doctor but am having a hard time figuring out what a cardiac marker has to due with bowels. What might be some likely causes?

How Can A Cardiac Marker Effect Bowel Movements?
Hello, This is a bit typical question about a blood report that can be due to cardiac or joint or gastrointestinal system. This is most probably a blood test called CRP that is C reactive protein. This has been related to the chances of having heart attack. But can also be raised in cases of inflammation of any sort particularly related to the systems just discussed above. Since, you have not mentioned about the values your report says it is not possible to discuss further. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
