How Can A Bee Sting On The Lower Leg Be Treated?

Two days after being stung in my lower leg by a bee I got a hard knot behind my knee. Which ended up being a superficial blood clot from calf muscle to my mid thigh. Could this have been from the bee sting or just a coincidence? I have a problem with varicose veins and slow return as far as how the blood pumps back up my veins in my legs is the way I understood it. This happened about a month ago. Yesterday I was stung again in the same area of the same leg. Should I be concerned?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It could be fibrotic scar developed over an insitu bee sting retained at the site. You can do an ultrasound scan to make a diagnosis. The retained sting might have produced a local reaction and developed in to a nodular scar. Nothing much to worry about it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
