How Are High Levels Of Gamma Gt Treated ?

I have a Gamma gt level of 100, possibly more, my doctor was a bit vague. I m 18 and have type 1 diabetes . On the day it was taken, I hadn t drank any alcohol for at least a month. She assumed that I had and has taken another sample just to be sure. Are there any other explanantions for my level or what could my high level be a symptom of?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Although chronic alcohol consumtion is the most frequent causevof high GGTP,an increased activitynof this enzyme can also be observed in people taking anti seizure medicine and in acute pacreatitis, hepatitis, myocardial infarction, hyperthyroidism, certain muscle diseases,in some viral nfections etc.
Even if a person has not taken alcohol and is a chronic alcoholic, the levels of GGTP will remain high.
Thanks
