Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

You can sponge the whole body of your daughter with tepid water. This will bring down the temperature but not bring it to normal. Continue giving your daughter acetaminophen/paracetamol every 4-6 hourly if the temperature is above 99F by side. In case the child vomits out the medicine within 15-20 minutes of its intake then kindly repeat the dose. If the fever does not subside in the next day or two you may have to revisit your doctor.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter an early recovery.

Hi
Thanks for your query.
Since your child is having fever which according to your pediatrician is viral in nature, she needs symptomatic treatment.
Record temperature 6 hourly and give acetaminophen as per dosage 15mg/kg till fever is 100F.
sponging to be done with tepid water not cold water.when temperature is above 102F.
Give plenty of fluids, fruit juices ,vegetable soup and soft bland diet so as to maintain hydration and nutrition.
In case symptoms persist get her re evaluated by pediatrician.
Wishing your child good health.
God bless..

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

It is called 'tepid' sponging.
It is quite fine.
Areas of skin exposed to owe temperatures help to diffuse the body's core temperature.
If the water is cold, the blood vessels of the skin will constrict / blood flow will be reduced / the temperature will not come down!

Use water at or slightly below room temperature.
Wrap one upper and one lower limb
Rotate when the towel is warm

Also give Ibuprofen on regular basis (8 or 6 hourly) for a day or two / not on 'as necessary basis'

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
