High Cholesterol, Healthy Lifestyle And Good BMI, Suffered With Chest Pain Below The Heart Radiating To The Back. On Medicines For Cholesterol And Acid Reflux. Treatment Required?
My husband is 47, healthy, active, exercises regularly, right at the right weight for his height and age. The last week he s had chest pain around and just below his heart that radiates to his back. He s a paramedic and did a 12 lead on himself at work yesterday and it was normal. Should he see a cardiologist? Could it be muscular? He does have high cholesterol and is on meds for it along with meds for acid reflux .

From the history given by you it does not look like a carediac problem; however it can not be ruled out 100% though.
I feel he can give a try with antacids & PPIs & some muscle relaxant creams with hot fomentation& rest. It should relieve in a couple of days.

Hi,
Your history seems to be acid peptic disease(acidity), a problem in the stomach. U may continue the medications for its relief. It is unlikely to be a muscle pain. Avoiding spicy food, junk food,coffee,cold drinks, smoking , alcohol and taking soft food will aid relief. Also make sure that you don't have respiratory infection in recent past. If chest persist still , it is advisable to go for chest x ray and an echo cardiogram.
