Hello, my daughter just got released from hospital after 4 days. She has Lupus but was admitted for severe abdominal pain. She could not eat or drink. They did an endoscopy and colonoscopy, the endoscopy results show she has gastritis and yesterday the GI Doc said she had Chrohn's disease based on the symtoms and the ulcerations and deterioration of the colon but today the primary doc on the ward said she is waiting for the lab report so she is not diagnosing her with Chrohn's until the lab report is back in another 3 days. In the meantime there were cells in the biopsy that should not have been there and they sent them off to another lab for further testing. That will take 7-10 days but that they hope she does not have this virus as the treatment is severe and costly and she is also so immunocompromised that it is cause for great concern....what could this virus be?
In the meantime they sent her home from the hospital with no pain meds, even though they know she is in a lot of pain. She will not get to see her Rheumatologist until Tuesday.
Last week she was hospitalized for Pleurisy and pericarditis, she is 22 years old and cannot afford to have her health spiral out of control anymore than t already is. Even though the primary on the ward would not give her any pain meds knowing she was not going to see her doctor until Tuesday she still gave her the meds that you would prescribe to someone with Chrohn's disease. ie. meds for spasms, two different antibiotics, Flagyl and Cipro........
Allt his said, my main concern is this virus they are waiting on results for....what could it be?
Any advice appreciated
Regards
Anna
