Heavy Period, Severe Cramps, Difficulty Passing Stools During The First Few Days. Advise?

Hi,
I normally have very heavy periods and severe cramps, and when I try and do a bowel movement I cannot because the pain coming from the bottom of my stomach is unbearable. What could be the cause of this? It usually only happens the first couple of days when I start my period and it is quite heavy. Could it be related to something bad? A lot of people say they have pain in their rectum but mine is in my stomach.

Hello,

Painful heavy period has several underlying pelvic pathology like endometriosis, fibroids, adenomyosis, polyp, PID etc.

You need to consult with gynecologist for relevant investigations like pelvic USG scan, hormone assay, speculum examination, D & C etc.

You should keep bowel habit regular in this time. Take some laxative, consume more vegetables & drink more water. You can take iron supplements & anti- spasmodic medication. Maintain genital hygiene.

Hop it helps. All the best.
