Heavy, Painful Periods With Severe Pain In Back And Legs. Hormone Levels Normal. Any Ideas?

I am 48 and suffering very heavy painful periods with extreme back pain and pains down my legs. Is this normal for my age. I have has my hormone levels tested and they said they are normal, not showing any signs of menopause. It is causing me a lot of distress each month. Why is this happening and what can I do to reduce these symptoms.
