Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Addressing your second query first, your daughter has upper respiratory tract infection which seems bacterial. It is advisable to consult a doctor who may prescribe an antibiotic along with a decongestant syrup to control the infection.

Constipation is essentially a nutritional issue and has to be managed accordingly. To relieve her from her pain you may have to use a suppository to help remove the hard stool. Simultaneously you will have to change her dietary habits to include more roughage in her diet to ensure that she does not get constipated. You may like to have a look at the article http://goo.gl/zRm1Q on constipation and dietary fibre.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter an early recovery.

Pediatrician Dr. E Venkata Ramana's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Coming to her constipation I advise you to give the diet with rich of dietary fiber like vegetables, green leafy vegetables, and fruits as the dietary fiber helps to pass soft stools.

The pain is due to tear of rectal mucosa while passing hard stool.

If the motions are hard you can give an oral stool softner like lactulose in prescribed dose.

Give plenty of oral fluids.

And she needs examination to look for any fissure formed there which may cause of the severe pain.

Coming to your second one, stuffy nose, cough, and discharge from eyes looking like resulted from a viral illness.

Clean the eyes with a soft clean cloth soaked in clean, sterile water.

Consult the Pediatrician for the examination and for the prescription of medication.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
