I have something very similar and have suffered from it on and off for years. My doctor ordered Xrays and diagnosed it as pleurisy. Hurts like hell sometimes and can be a bit scarey. I encourage you to play it safe and see your doctor. If you don't consult a doctor you most likley will not have peace of mind. If you are diagnosed with pleurisy try Aleve, it works best for me.

I'd check with your GP if symptoms persist, but if I had to guess, I would probably say you had pleuritis a.k.a. pleurisy.
