Having Brownish Mucus With Fever. Suspected To Have Flu. What Could Be Done?

Hi my daughter has has a hearty cough that's productive, brownish mucus with a fever for four days now. Her temp drops down to 99.1 then back up to 100.8 even 102.. I brought her to our ped yest & he said it was most likely the flu?? Her E level comes and goes too? B=Not eating too much either?
she has:low grade fever, ear pain, productive cough

Get culture and sensitivity of sputum for bacteria and suitable antibiotic, also CBC and ESR.
Appropriate antibiotic and anti-pyretics should be given
