Having Abdomen Pain, Stomach Ache. Diagnosed With Hiatal Hernia/gerd. Required Treatment?

hi.. i first started out having abdomen pain. stomache ache . then it progressed into my chest. i was dianoised with hiatal hernia/gerd 4 yrs ago. now i tried everything antacids. my stomache pains has gone away but i still have a dull aching pain in center of my chest. ekg was done at urgent care . they gave me some liquid stuff to drink but the aching pain came back its been going on now more than a week what should i do

Hello:

It would be useful to know exact location of the pain, nature of the pain ( burning, pressure like, etc), radiation, associated symptoms, alleviating factors( antiacids, etc).

Anyway, hiatal hernias are usually found on chest s rays, it is associated with gastroesophageal reflux. That's why mainly the treatment focus on controlling the reflux from the stomach.

In your case, because you already take antiacid medications, probably a good thing to do would be to be seen by a gastroenterologist.

Rarely hiatal hernias need to be surgically repaired.
