Having PCOD. On Duphaston. Missed Periods. Pregnancy Test Came Negative. Am I Pregnant?

Hello Doc. I have PCOD and we are trying to get pregnant and my gyn prescribed me Duphaston from day 14 to 26 and I am now on day 34 and stil no period. Took some home pregnancy tests and they came out negative. Is there any chance I am pregnant? I want to take a blood test but I dont wanna get my hopes up cause the home tests showed negative. My breast hurt a lot and I have been veery emotional lately. What could be another reason for not getting my period?

Hi,
Ovulation failure is the commonest finding in PCOD. Duphaston can make up for the progesterone deficiency usually found in the latter part of the cycle in this condition, but cannot induce ovulation. As such, your symptoms need not be related to a pregnancy. Nevertheless, you should exclude/confirm pregnancy either by a repeat HPT or through the blood test. In the absence of a pregnancy, the cause of the missed period is PCOD itself. Hope you find this information helpful. Take care.
