Have Swelling In The Throat Area After Swallowing A Entire French Fry

I ate a french fry to quickly about 2 days ago and accidently swallowed an entire fry, it was sharp and hard and i think it scratched or puncutred my right tonsil, it wasn't bad when it happened but it progressivly gotten worse to the point where swallowing anything it feels like trying to swallow something with strep, its only on the right side though. Also if i check on my neck where the glands are for my throat the right side is swollen. I can barely even open my mouth because of the pain but that could be attributed the cut on my right cheek as well. What should i do.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain the french fry as you told was swallowed full and was hard too has cause laceration in tonsil as well as throat leading to inflammation and swelling leading to pain on swallowing..
Nothing to worry as gradually the pain will subside.
You can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen for reducing pain, inflammation and swelling.
Gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine.
Take a soft diet and more of fluids.
Avoid spicy and hard foods.
Drink plenty of cool water as it will help in reducing inflammation and relieve pain..
The swelling and pain will start subsiding in 3 to 4 days but in case if you do not find any improvement even after that consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
