Have Spotting, Bleeding, Painful Menstruation, Report Showed Endometrial Fluid. Undergo Dilation And Curettage?

Hi,

My name is Faye 33 yrs old. I had just consulted to an OB-Gyne because of spotting/bleeding in between my period or 5 or more days before my menstruation and a painful menstruation. My periods last mostly 4 days and I changed frequently atleast I used 4-5 pads a day. and the OB suggested me to have an ultrasound.
The result showed a 1.4cm thichness of the lining with endometrial fluid noted but uterus and ovaries are normal.
Now my doctor want me to undergo a Dilatation and Curettage. Is this necessary ? Please advise.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The dilatation and currettage was likely suggested to allow your doctor to obtain a sample of the endometrium that could be sent for analysis.

This would allow your doctor to determine whether endometrial hyperplasia is a possibility. This is an increase in endometrial glands. It is significant because of the risk of progression.

It may be best to do the test.

I hope this helps
