I am a 65 year old female with three grown children, have pelvic organ prolapse and wear a pessary. About 4 days ago, after pushing very hard to have a bowel movement two or three times, the next time I pooped, I noticed about an eighth of a teaspoon of mucous, no poop, with minute, bright red blood type veins running through it. I checked the fecal matter and there was no sign of blood in it. After that, I stopped pushing so hard and learned how to poop correctly with prolapse. I have no pain, no fever, no vomiting or any discomfort at all and have had no recurrence of the mucus even though I have had several bowel movements. I am scheduled for a colonoscopy in early August. Does it sound like I am ok to wait till then?
