Have Nystagmus. Is Laser Eye Surgery Now Possible?
Hi I have very poor eyesight.. I have nystagmus and many many years ago I was told that I wouldnt be able to have lazer eye surgery .. I am looking online and it seems to be that this is now possible? Is this true? And how will this help my eyesight? I gather it will not stop my nystagmus but as it stands I am unable to drive.. would eye sugery improve my vision enough to do so? Thanks
Hi.. Thanks for the query... Are you planning for laser surgery to avoid using glasses? If so what is the power of glasses you are wearing? If you want to get your power corrected by laser surgery it depends on corneal thickness, curvatures and refractive error.. It is not going to improve your eye sight ( after you will have the same vision without glasses as your having with glasses before surgery...) nor is improving your condition of nystagmus.... But if you want to get your nystagmus corrected there are surgeries for that, but let me tell you the success rate is less.. You can consult a squint specialist for further details and treatment.. Hope the information helps you..Take care..
