Have Frequent Tonsillitis. Cough Up Yellow Phlegm With Little Blood. Now Has Reoccurred. Use Antibiotics Again?

Hey, I have a history of frequently getting tonsilitis ever since i was a child. i have tonsilitis again after only 2 months and noticed that in the mornings I will cough up a thick yellow phlegm with a small chunk of blood which has happened to me before but never this bad or this long. I have had tonsilitis for 5 days now and have coughed up blood on 3 of those mornings. I know the blood is from my tonsils and was wondering if there is any cause for concern? I last had tonsilitis about 2 months ago and was put on antibiotics which helped. Should I try and get antibiotics again or wait for it to pass naturally? I have been treating it with: salt and betadine sore throat gargle, panadol, strepsils and honey and lemon tea.

Hi,
It seems that you might be having follicular tonsillitis where there is always septic foci of infection remains in fold of tonsils giving rise to infection frequently.
In this type of tonsillitis, removal of tonsils will give you relief from your problem.
At present you may go for antibiotic medicine course after consulting your doctor.
Avoid fried, junk food and cold drinks.
Do regular gargling.
Ok and take care.
