Have Ear Problems, Discharging Ear Wax And Blood Chunks. Given Ear Drops. Is It Ear Infection?

Hello, I've been having ear problems in my left ear for about 3 years now. It started by discharging what I thought was ear wax and had a horrible smell, I went to the doctor and they took some blood chuncks out my ear and said my ear drum burst, and gave me ear drops, the smeel went away but has been recurring every time I stop using the ear drops. One doctor said I must go for an operation and the other say its just a small ear infection.

hello dear
thanks for your query at HCM.
smelly discharge from ear indicate that it is due to infection.
decision for operation can only be made on physical examination of ear, other wise its difficult comment on operation just based on history.
my recommendation would be that you once again visit your doctor get yourself examined discuss further about investigation and management.
regards
