Have Diabetes And Constipation. Done CABG Of Heart. Prescribed Lubowel. How Long Before It Works?

My 65 years old mom is diabetic and suffers from chronic constipation. She has had a CABG of the heart 3 years back. She does not get any motion without the laxatives like cremafin +, till recently which are now useless for the last few months. On consultation with a gastroenterology surgeon she was recommended Lubowel 24 MG.
She is taking it for 4days now and has been asked to stop usage of any laxatives. However she is not getting any motion which is the problem.
How long does Lubowel take to induce motion and what are the chances of this working?

Probably her intestinal secretions are not increasing despite lubowel and thats why no relief, hopefully your gastro surgeon has ruled out and mechanical obstruction. He may advise Enema also.If her bowel sounds are okay and there is no distension of abdomen, you may try isapgol husk(natruolax) with warm milk sachets twice a day,ask your doc.for it ,also lactulose 40 ml twice a day can be supportive
