Have Cramps In The Belly. Have A Chance Of Miscarriage Earlier. Scan Done. Is It Advisable To Take Medication Without Blood Test?
Hello. I have experienced some light lower cramps in my belly but have not suffered a miscarriage yet and no proper bleeding, just one small spot. I were referred to the early pregnancy unit for a scan. They say they can see an irreguar gestation sac measuring 2.3x 2.2 x0.6cm. This contains a large yolk sac and unfortunately a fetal pole cannot be seen. Both ovaries normal, no adnexal masses or free fluid seen. My last period ended on the 19th March and I do not think I fell pregnant until a similar time the month after. The nurse was going to prescribe me tablets to miscarry after my scan. I have had no blood tests. Should I take the tablets she is going to prescribe me? or has it not had a chance to grow yet? I questioned her decision and thought I should at least wait for a second opinion. The young man performing the scan was a learning nurse. I just didnt feel sure and felt pressurised.
Hi, You sure are right in opting for a second opinion. Decisions regarding the future of an early pregnancy cannot be done in inexperienced hands. You would need an assessment by a specialist, a serum beta-hCG titre, a trans-vaginal sonogram by an experienced sonologist along with a follow up to see the status of your pregnancy.Hope your query is answered. Wish you good health.
