Have Cough And Cold During Pregnancy, Has Fever. What Should I Be Concerned About?

Hi, I am 12 weeks pregnant and having cough and colds for 3 days now. Fever started yesterday ranging from 37.6 to 38.5. Whenever it got higher than 38, we always try to lower it as soon as possible by putting towel. But I m still worried that twice yesterday it went higher than 38. Should i be concerned about the effect on the baby? Thank you

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
You are suffering from acute upper respiratory tract viral infection.
Major concern regarding prescribing your treatment is your pregnancy status.
You should consult with internal medicine specialist and should go for thorough check up.
You can't go for chest x ray and should take proper treatment before spread of infection to lower respiratory tract.
You can take amoxycillin, dextromethorphan, cetrizine and paracetamol.
You should perform gargles three times in day; a glass of lukewarm water with a pinch of salt.
take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
