The most important causes of weight gain is reduced physical activity and eating more than required.
Reduced physical activity can be on account of your illness (SLE and seizures).
When your lifestyle requires less physical activity, then, the food intake should also be proportionately reduced. If not, then, the weight tends to increase.
In addition, the medications used for SLE such as
steroids also lead to weight gain.
In any case, diet control coupled with regular exercises, would lead to your weight becoming normal again.
