Have Paragard IUD, Experiencing Brown, Pink Discharge, Went Red Then Again Light. Concerned?

I have had the Paragard IUD for about 5 months. My period isn t due for about a week though I am experiencing brown/pink discharge. Last night it was red and heavy enough to convince me that my period had come early. Now today it is much lighter and brown colored. Should I be concerned? I am not experiencing pain or bad smells. This happened before my last period too, but right before my period and not as heavy.

Hello ma'am and welcome.

A brown or pink discharge is considered normal at the beginning or end of a period, and so based on your description it sounds like this could be normal and is nothing to worry about. Moreover you have an IUD inserted, and so this could be a normal occurence, without having to raise any concerns.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
