Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello:
The passage of gallstones from the gallbladder can become blocked at the ampulla, causing an obstruction of the pancreatic duct, which causes acute pancreatitis. Gall stones may lead to itching when they cause obstruction of bile ducts which leads to increase of bile salts in the blood. It is not uncommon for patients to experience hives and itching with gallbladder disease. He should improve now that the gallbladder has been removed.
