Half Of Colon Was Removed. Does CAT Scan Prior To Starting Chemotherapy Indicate Cancer?
I had 1/2 of my colon removed and doctor said he took out fat pad with 15 lymph nodes. The 4 lymph nodes closer to the tumor showed cancer. They cancer specialist is starting me on xel ox
(elodea plus Leucovrin plus Oxaliplatin). He is doing chest abdomen cat scan prior to starting me on these drugs. I will take chemo through a pic line and oral medication for 14 days. Does cat scan prior to starting chemo mean that he thinks it has spread or just precautionary measure or base line for future reference
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum. There is possibility of all the three things are true. It may be to find if there is any spread after surgery, to the tissues in rest of upper abdomen, or the lower chest. To have a look of the healthy tissues, as a guidance for further checkup. Anxiety may cause it to spread to the rest of the tissues, so stop thinking any thing else about the procedures and try to be happy. Take more of green leafy vegetables, pulses, sprouts, and protein rich foods to improve the resistance. Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
