Question: Hi Doctor, I wanted to understand if the treatment suggested to my mom, who is having advanced cancer, correct? her history is as below :
2006 : sigmoid colorectal cancer
2014: had RFA of a leasion in liver and then surgery of the liver
2017: the reports say that the cancer has spread to other organs
Now they have suggested chemotherapy , she is currently having a CBD Cather

It is bit unusual for colon cancer to spread after so many years, but still possible. Have they confirmed by biopsy that it is spread from colon or some other organ? Biopsy must have been done after the liver surgery.
Anyway, now the disease has metastasized, so Chemotherapy with targeted therapy is a valid approach. May control the disease for sometime and extend survival. But unfortunately, it is not curable.

Hi Doctors, They didnt specifically mention that its a secondary cancer in the liver in 2014 all her reports show metastasis mention ( reports attached as earlier ) now in 2017 after the PET scan lessions are seen i a lot of places ( reports attached as earlier ). Is there any risk for her to have a Chemo or is there any other way ...also what type of chemo is suggested

There is no other option apparently, so we have to accept the risks of chemo, like vomiting, diarrhea, infection, etc. Nowadays good drugs are available to prevent these.
There are various drugs for this, like 5fu, capecitabine, oxaliplatin, irinotecan and targeted therapy like bevacizumab and cetuximab, given in various permutations and combinations. Exact regime applied will depend on patient's health and oncologist's choice.
