Had Shingles, Had A Flare Up, Prescription For Vaccination. Can I Take Vaccination?

I have had shingles in September of this year, and now seem to have had a flare up of them. Have been treated with the antibotics for that and have a prescription for the vaccination. How do I know that I clear of them-they really didn't bother me except for feeling like needles sticking in as compared to the last time I had them. Can I go get the vaccination? Thanks ( I am 60 years old)

Hi!
welcome to HCM!
Shingles is the infection caused by varicella-zoster virus — the same virus that causes chickenpox. After having chickenpox, the virus lies inactive in nerve tissue near your spinal cord and brain. Years later, the virus may reactivate as shingles.

While it isn't a life-threatening condition, shingles can be very painful.
Treatment with antiviral drugs is required only if the pain and rash occur near an eye to prevent permanent eye damage.
You're 65 or older, which increases your risk of complications.
You have a weakened immune system .
The rash is widespread and very painful.
Vaccination will not be useful now after the infection has already occured and subsided.
hope this will help you!take care!
