Had Sex. Touched Her Vaginal Fluid And My Penis. Concerned About The Findings? Would It Be HIV?

Hi Doctor,

I recently had sex with a sex worker but i made sure that I used protection. After we had finished I had removed the condom from my penis. My hands became slightly moist because the condom was covered with her vaginal fluid and i then touched my penis with the same hand.

I cant remember if i had touched the shaft of my penis or the tip of my penis (gland) with my wet hands. What are my risks, should i be concerned?

Also is it possible to contract HIV if vaginal fluids touch the pubic area of a man.

The next day after the protected intercourse I noticed a sore throat and a little bit of a cold, would this be a symptom of HIV or would such a symptom only occur 1 week after intercourse has taken place.

Thank You.

Hi,
Thanks for writing.

From your information, there is very little chance of HIV transmission in the method described by you.
Female to male sexual transmission rate of HIV infection is very small. For HIV transmission, there should be some mucosal or skin tears in the male. Both of which are note there in your situation.

Still there is a possibility of other sexually transmitted diseases like herpes, genital warts and syphilis that can be very infective even by touching vaginal fluid.

You can consult a dermatologist for any skin changes in your genital area or pain and itching. HIV testing can be done only if really necessary after being seen by your doctor.

Hope this helps.
