Had Prostate Removed. Using Viagra. Are There Any Long Term Side Effects?

My Dad had his prostate removed about 6 years ago. I realize what is going on with him now, after talking to a man who had his prostate treated with radiations. What are the side effects of him having viagra very regulary? Is there bad side effects?

Of course if his nerves had to be cut in the surgery, this won't work and he would need to try the penil injections.
Are there bad long term side effects of the drug you inject into your penis?

Are there other technique's to built his confidence back up?

Hello
Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your father has undergone radical prostatectomy followed by radiation for cancer of the prostate 6 years back and has problem of erectile dysfunction.

Normally erectile dysfunction that follows after radical prostatectomy regains within 1 year after surgery.

If your father still has erectile dysfunction it indicates permanent damage to the nerve plexus during surgery.

In his case Taking Viagra will be not much help in getting good erection
.
Taking injections in penis for a long term is not advisable as it may lead to fibrosis of the corpora cavernosa.

The best option would be to put penile implant so that he can enjoy his sexual life.
