Had Neck Surgery, Heart Burn, Swelling On Lower Right Cheek, Stomach Distress, Hernia. Treatment?

My husband had neck surgery a few weeks ago. He is on opana & vicodin. Tiday he is experienceing severe heartburn and his lower right cheek has been swelling up for the past several hours. I have given him dexilant, alka seltzer and gaviscon. There has been no relief to the heartburn. I a m concerned about the swelling but am afraid to give him benadryl because of his current stomach distress. He also has a hernia.
I'm thinking we should visit the ER.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.
