Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I just had a baby Sunday night on the 16th I haven't had a bowel movement since last Saturday. Took two womens laxatives this morning. I was able to have one. But my abdomen has been hurting today and I just had a watery stool. Actually there was no stool and it wasn't water. The toilet water was bright red like blood. Suggestions or a clue what's going on?
Hello, I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
I suspect it to be due to lower intestinal tract bleeding.
Bright red blood or maroon-colored stools usually indicate a problem in the lower part of the digestive tract such as hemorrhoids or diverticulitis or fissures.
Some women may have hemorrhoids during their pregnancy due to increased abdominal pressure. In many cases it resolves of it own.
Any blood in the stool should be evaluated.
Depending on the cause, however, treatment may involve simple things you can do on your own. These including eating a high-fiber diet to relieve constipation that can cause and aggravate hemorrhoids and anal fissures, and sitting in warm or hot baths to relieve fissures.
Hope this helps. Please write back for further queries. Wishing you good health.
