Frequent Body And Bone Pain. What Could It Possibly Be?

I have a 13 year old son who frequently complains of body pain. Lower legs, lower arms, back, neck and hands. He describes it as bone pain and I have no idea what it could possibly be. It has been going on for months he said, but he just now told us because he was afraid we would make him quit football. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
The pain may be a result of excessive fatigue or it can be due to a decreased calcium levels.
He should check his calcium levels if it is below normal have 03 injections of vitamin D3 orally in 03 days and take calcium pills to compensate for the calcium.
Also check his uric Acid levels that can be increased and can cause pain in the joints.
If the uric Acid is higher than take Tab. Zyloric 100 mg once daily till the uric acid is normal and check for the uric Acid first after 15 days and then each month.

I hope I am successful in solving your query If you have more you can ask me.
Take care and have good rest.
Regards,
Dr. Azhar Sattar

Hi,
Thank you for your query.
Usually bone pains in long limbs are complained by adolescent males and females in active sports. This is usually due to the sudden growth spurt during this period.
Give your child enough nutrition and fluids. Give him paracetamol if his pains are severe.
If the pain persists check his blood Vit D 3 levels.
Consult your physician if the problem persists.
Hope this answers your query. If you have any other queries kindly direct them to me.Wishing your child a speedy recovery.Have a nice day.
