Fever For 4 Days And Ketones In Urine Of 7 Years Old Boy
Fever for 4+ days and ketones in urine with 7 year old My 7 year old son had been running a fever for 4 days now (101-103). No upper respiratory symptoms and strep had been ruled out by his pediatrician . Urinalysis shows elevated ketones. Tomorrow he will get a blood test . He s a very active child (competitive gymnast & martial arts) and a fairly healthy eater. What worries me is that diabetes runs dominantly in my husband s paternal side. Should I worry?

Dear Heliza,thanks for query.Having diabetes in family increase chances for the family but this is for type 2 diabetes.In you child case if he turns our to be diabetic it will be type 1 diabetes.So do not worry and get test as advised.Ketones in urine can be present in conditions other then diabetes also.bye and take care.
