Felt Choked And Breathless, Forced Vomiting Helped. Why This Happens ?

Hi! 2 times already this year, I woke up around 1am and struggled for 3hrs to regain my breath . However, I did one silly but workable technique for the 2 times event; ie. I pushed my fingers into my throat to vomit out. But Im not too sure whether I was eating too much dinner or drinking too much water in the night or drinking water at a wrong time say in the midnight.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Possible causes are heart failure which may present like paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea, acid reflux with laryngopharyngeal reflux or nocturnal asthma or infection or allergy etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Use tablet pantoprazole before breakfast for one week. Avoid spicy food and alcohol.

Check with ECG, chest x-ray, echocardiography. polysomnography may useful for sleep apnea.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
