Fell Down. Have A Large Swelling On The Buttock. Heavy Bruising. On Oral Therapy And On Blood Thinner Ascal. Suggestions?

Hi. I fell down stairs a 16 days ago and landed on my rear. A large swelling immediately appeared at the top of the buttock. There was heavy bruising (discoloration) that has more or less disappeared. I went to the physician two days later and she said it was just a matter of waiting for it to go down. My mobility was never affected and I can walk fine. The swelling is still there - about 5 inches in diameter. What should I do? (Im 57, diabetic on oral therapy and on blood thinner Ascal)

Hello,
Since it is already 16 days after your fall and you are comfortable and having no pain and if your swelling is gradually reducing ,then nothing is to be done.
If your swelling persists, then it could be due to a local collection of blood caused by local trauma and aggravated by your blood thinner.
If the collection of blood is small,it shall reabsorb slowly of its own gradually but if it is very big, then it might have to be aspirated.
Thanks
