Eye Burnt With Hot Water, White Piece Hanging From Eye Lid. What Is It?

Hello, my husband burned his eye with boiling got water. We already went to the emergency room and he was looked at. We were already given medicine. Anyways, it's been four days his eyes been trying to heal. Thus morning he has like a white piece hanging from the inside of his upper lid. Is it from the healing process, or is it something major? He's a little worried.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
I would like to know to what extent the eye was injured. Like how much did it affect the conjuctiva & cornea. What medications were prescribed.
The white thing hanging from the upper lid could be the burned conjunctival layer which is sloughing after the healthy conjunctival layer has grown or the swollen conjunctiva due to inflammation.
Pleaase see the ophthalmologist.
