Experiencing Chronic Pain In Legs And Lower Back. What Are The Treatments ?

I am a retired Navy veteran, I was medically retired in 1995 and prior to retirement the Doctor prescribed me Percocet 5mg 3 times a day. After I retired I went to the VA and they eventually put me on Methadone 2 times a day. I had a respiratory problem in 2008 and the Heart Doctor believed that the Methadone caused the problems. So in Feb 09, the VA put me on 75mg Morphine twice a day, with breakthrough Percocet. Over time the dosage was changed by a substitute Doctor to 120 mg twice a day. My pain has increased tremendously, I have no quality of life and I have developed a tolerance to the current Morphine dosage. I told my Doctor that I need to increase the dosage to 3 times a day, I have a multitude of problems. I was a police officer for 5 years until I was run over by a car in 2000. With my service connected injuries I now have chronic pain in my legs, my lower back hurts very badly. The Doctor is reluctant to increase my dosage and I am suffering big time. I am 54 and I really have no outside life, the meds last about 5 hours if I am lucky. My son has to help me sometimes to bathe, if I take the medicine I can perform limited tasks. What should I do? I didn t go into great detail.

dear, your morphine dependancy at the moment is the main problem might aswell your causative factor for pain is not that significant but at the moment your morphine dependancy is aggravating the pain. well i can help you but it will be a mutual cooperation but i am not sure how much you can participate what we can do is to tapper of morphine and over the period of time to lower classes of drugs but we will have to get the physiotherapist on board and you have to set your routine for work out. i am not asking you to work out very hard but lets start from 5 steps a day and i would want to see your vitamin d levels and mri lumbar spine. i hope my answer must be helpful for you.
thanks
