Hi, thanks for asking in Healthcare Magic.

You are having acute suppurative otitis media (ASOM), a middle ear infection. Throat infection or sinusitis usually precedes the middle ear infection. Popping sound indicates blockage or dysfunction of eustachian tube that connects throat with the ear.

Accumulation of fluid in middle ear cavity, due to negative pressure becomes a nidus for bacterial infection. The yellow colour discharge (pus) indicates bacterial infection. Mild to moderate hearing loss is the reason for the muffled hearing. Leaking of yellow discharge indicates ear drum perforation.

Get yourself examined by an ENT specialist as middle ear infections need to be attended quickly. Antibiotics like Azithromycin, anti inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen, Paracetamol combination and antihistamine like Fexophenadrine will be useful. Your treating Dr will know about these drugs.

I hope this is useful to you.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that your eardrum has ruptured. The most common cause is an ear infection though there are other causes such a trauma.

Ruptured ear drums can be temporarily associated with initial pain like you experienced along with hearing loss or tinnitus in some persons.
It normally heals on its own, this can take a few weeks.

You should consider visiting your doctor for assessment, if an ear infection is present then it would need treatment.

I hope this helps
