hello my partner has had a problems with his ears for about 4 to months with pain and blockages . At the moment he has a very bad ear infection that id causing him a lot of pain , he had so much pain we went to the hospital , he is on antibiotics and has ear drops but it just seems to be getting worse . his right ear looks completely blocked and is leaking a yellow/while liquid and that's been happening since last night. we have been to numerous doctors and they aren't really helping ... what should we do ?
hello and welcome to HCM, A recurrent infection of the ear could probably indicate a hole in the drum or more serious problem. If the routine antibiotics are not working then you need to do the following: 1. Take a swab from the ear for culture and sensitivity and start the proper anti biotic. 2. I always prefer injections as they are better at acute control of symtoms 3. After your infection subsides the doctor most clean the ear canal to ascertain the status of the drum or the tympanic membrane which willl determine your further course of treatment and also prevent the recurrence. 4. Avoid using ear buds hope these help regards Dr Sriram Nathan
